About our Wine
Natural, native and nice, authentic and unadulterated are words which best describe our wines and our way of life. We offer single vineyard premium vinifera wines as well as classic native American and French hybrid blends - a wine for every palate and every occasion.
O-Neh-Da and Eagle Crest wines are 100% pure grape wines with no admixture of extraneous substances. We grow the soil, the soil grows the vine, the vine grows the grape, and the crushed grape yields the wine!
A wood-fired pizza oven and homemade from scratch pizzas are offered during private parties and events. Local artisanal cheeses and flatbreads are available to compliment your wine selections.
About the Vineyard
O-Neh-Da Vineyard was founded in 1872 by Rochester’s founding Catholic Bishop, Bernard J. McQuaid, to make natural pure grape wine for his churches. The winery building was constructed at the close of the American Civil War and was built as a gravity-fed four story winery facility. The long-standing tradition of natural winemaking utilizing 19th century facilities offers visitors a glimpse into the past and reveals the nuance of the Finger Lakes terroir. As the Finger Lakes oldest premium winery, we are proud to have given Hermann J. Wiemer his start in American viticulture.
This rich wine-making history inspires our family to farm the land sustainably and organically, preserving the natural beauty of the land and lake without the environmental harm that often comes from commercial farming. The winery is 100% solar powered and the Finger Lakes Wine Region was awarded the “Solar Champion of America” award in 2016 for our regional dedication to renewable energy production. We compost all organic matter and use bio-intensive practices in the vineyards to produce the cleanest, friendliest yummy wines.
‘Adirondack meets Zen’ is our vibe. Although we're only 30 minutes from Rochester it feels like you have escaped to northern Canada or the Adirondacks once you arrive. Great hiking, cycling, kayaking and bird-watching opportunities abound on Hemlock Lake. We love visitors to experience our tranquil slice of Zion and we encourage everyone to drop out of the rat race for an afternoon and soak in the beauty and serenity of Nature.
