Genesee Country Village & Museum (GVCM) is the largest and most comprehensive living history museum in New York State – and the third-largest in the United States. Founded in 1966 with the goal of preserving the architecture of the Genesee Valley region and providing context for the telling of New York State and 19th-century American history, the museum now encompasses 600 acres and includes the historic village, the John L. Wehle Gallery and the Genesee Country Nature Center. Visitors will enjoy interactive programs, fascinating exhibits and special events to help you live history.

The Genesee Country Village & Museum is open 12 months a year, however hours and days vary according to season and programming. Please visit our Website as well as our Events page for the most up-to-date information.

General Admission tickets for GCV&M can be purchased directly at the Admissions booth when you arrive. Many of our special events have pre-sale tickets available, or in some instances, required. For special event tickets, click here.

General admission tickets may be used for daily admission during our summer season. Special event, evening and reservation-only tickets must be purchased separately.

The Genesee Country Village Museum (GCVM) is the largest and most comprehensive living history museum in New York State – and the third-largest in the United States. Chartered as an educational institution by the NYS Board of Regents, the museum offers opportunities to see, smell, taste, touch, explore and experience our 68 historic buildings; more than 20,000 artifacts; wildlife paintings, drawings and sculpture spanning centuries; the living collections in our gardens, on our working farm and at our Nature Center; and the gorgeous landscape that first brought settlers to this region.

Hike the Trails of the Nature Center
The grounds of Genesee Country Village & Museum encompass hundreds of acres of woodlands, meadows, old fields, geologic formations, ponds and streams. With five miles of themed nature trails and 175 acres of wildlife habitat, the grounds are open year-round for visitors to explore natural history and the area’s flora and fauna.
